Hope Cement Works
With a history going back more than 80 years, Hope Cement’s plant in Derbyshire is recognised as the UK’s biggest and best cement plant. It has a capacity of almost 1.5 million tonnes per year and has supplied cement to some of the country’s most iconic landmarks.
More than half the cement made at Hope is transported by rail to depots in the South East, West Midlands and North of England, ensuring the product is delivered as sustainably as possible.
Getting there: Take A6 towards Buxton. Take a left onto A623, through Peak Forest. At Tideswell cross roads turn left towards Bradwell onto B6049. Continue south on the B6049 until you see a sign for Coplow Dale and Quarry Traffic. Turn right here and follow the road signs for quarry traffic, turning right. Beware the sharp turn to the left rather than heading back into Bradwell. This is signposted for Castleton. This passes a small quarry on the left then continues towards the main limestone quarry.
