AND Festival 2010 (Spring)
Festival of new cinema, digital culture and art.

The second year of the Abandon Normal Devices (AND) took place in Lancashire and Cumbria between March 15th and April 10th 2010. Audiences joined AND Festival on a digital journey across real and virtual worlds, as they abandoned the city to head for the hills. It included 8 new commissions, 2 residencies, 9 film screenings, 13 exhibitions, 18 live events, 1 community project, 2 online projects from 98 leading and emerging international artists and film-makers across 21 venues and public spaces. The second edition of the festival was more spread out in geography and duration, adapted to suit the rural context. Attracting audiences of 31,365 active audiences and ambient audiences 62,908.
Expected, was strange playful and radical interventions across the landscape as a host of artists, scientists and designers mapped the region to question our relationship with nature and technology, food and health, work and play.
Artists featured included Ellie Harrison, Forkbeard Fantasy, Imitating the Dog, Matt Hulse, Zoe Papaopolou and Catherine Kramer, Portable Pixel Playground, Simon Faithful, Geoffrey Allan Rhodes, Hudson Powell, Rob Ray, Ubermorgan, Bompass & Parr, Stanza, Strange Attractors, Sound Network, Improv Everywhere, Plaid, James Coupe.
The second edition of AND was presented by folly in association with FACT and Cornerhouse.
